Moringa Leaves Lachha Paratha – Healthy Lunchbox Recipe
Ingredients to Prepare Moringa Leaves Lachha Paratha
- Dried Moringa leaves to powder – 1 spoon
- Cumin Powder -1 teaspoon
- Pepper Powder -1 teaspoon
- Ghee -2 spoons
- Whole Wheat Flour – 1 Cup
- Water – ½ cup
- Salt – to taste
Method to Prepare Moringa Leaves Lachha Paratha
1. Take a small bowl, add dried moringa leaves powder, cumin powder, pepper powder and salt to it. Mix well.
2. Let’s get started with the paratha preparation, take a large mixing bowl, add whole wheat flour and salt. Add water gradually, you may need a ½ cup for it. Knead it into a soft dough and keep it aside for 10-15 minutes.
3. Take a small-sized dough ball, roll it into a thin roti, grease the roti with oil/ghee and sprinkle a generous amount of prepared moringa leaves powder mix.
4. Cut the roti into thin strips and pleat the strip together.
5. Stretch out the pleated dough as much as possible and roll the final dough into a swiss roll.
6. Dust some wheat flour to this pleated dough and start rolling into a thin roti.
7. Heat a Tawa, put the lachha paratha on it, cook both the sides until the paratha has mild brown spots on it. Don’t forget to brush some ghee on top of the paratha while switching sides.
8. Once the lachha paratha is cooked, crush the paratha to form layers.
9. Repeat the same for the rest of the dough and moringa leaves powder mix.
10. Serve hot moringa leaves lachha paratha with kadhai paneer.
Method To Prepare Moringa Leaves
1. Wash the moringa leaves thoroughly 2-3 times in running water. Drain out the excess water.
2. Spread the wet moringa leaves on a kitchen towel and allow it to air dry for 2-3 days.
3. The dried leaves become crispy and can be effortlessly crushed by hands.
4. To get an even power consistency, grind the dried moringa leaves and store in an airtight container.
Tips
1. Avoid adding too much of moringa leaves power mix to the roti as the leaves are bitter in taste. Make sure you only sprinkle it.
2. Give some sweets /fruits as a side dish to your child to compensate for the bitter taste of moringa leaves.
3. While using the moringa leaves always use a fresh spoon. The shelf life of moringa leaves is 3- 4 months.
